Fashionistas – WTF

Written By: bradsbin on October 14, 2009 4 Comments

fashion fuckersYou watch America’s next top model and project runway. And it’s pretty entertaining really. I did not think the day would come when I would enjoy watching a bunch of camp or sexually ambiguous designers or ditsy models showcase their talents, but it did. However whilst these shows offer some entertainment and you never really quickly change the channel from E Entertainment broadcasts either, you cannot admit that your soul is left as intact as it was before.

It’s the ideas that the miserable shallow pits of consumption hold and share with us that make them so reprehensible. They all seem to speak about fashion as if it were something very noteworthy, influential and ultimately important. The sad truth is that many view fashion as all of these. However what really gets me is when they speak about fashion as having some intrinsic value in the realm of universal profundity. These cocksuckers (apt for most) assert that what they’re doing is as valuable as a surgeon saving lives or those twats Bono and Bob raising funds for the poverty-stricken.

I wear clothes because I look better than when I am nude. Others wear clothes because it is some sort of image shaper. Some wear them to conceal their hideous fatness and even worse, others wear them because some fucks have decided that these fashion pricks are important and we should wear some shit rag they deemed fantastic. What should really point us all to their unfounded self-importance and stupidity is the adoption (probably smugly and self-named) term ‘fashionista’ – pricks.

I have included some quotes from ‘fashionistas’ and models to reveal the depths of the shallowness.

Project Runway:

Tim: Jay, listen to your own voice… And tell her there’s a reason why she’s a model and you’re the designer.

Austin Scarlett: (about Wendy) We’ll probably find her wandering the streets, hair astray and overdone makeup, muttering to herself and wearing orthopedic shoes.

Heidi: When I saw her coming down the runway, I thought ‘How pretty are you!’ I just want everything to be pretty pretty pretty!

Coco Chanel:

Dress sharply and they’ll remember the outfit; dress impeccably and they’ll remember the woman.

Elegance is not the prerogative of those who have just escaped from adolescence, but of those who have already taken possession of their future.

Fashion is not simply a matter of clothes. Fashion is in the air, born upon the wind. One intuits it. It is in the sky and on the road.

Karl Lagerfeld:

Fashion is ephemeral, dangerous and unfair. I am a legend.

there are far more worrying things than jealousy in this world, some of which we can control. Like sauces. Sauces are dangerous for the body.

I hope you enjoyed those.

    Braddy,

I was having the most horrible day at work and this really cheered me up. It’s funny how reading a rant filled with expletives, anger, vitriol and misanthropy can really brighten up your day. Thanks for making me smile on this day of hideousness.

“Keep it that depressing yet upbeat tone of those who are ultimately happy but like to winge.”
    fking Love that quote btw..

All my comments seem to be moderated though! :(

Despite this i shal attempt to add my two cents.
In brief much like most arguments i believe there are points to be raised on both sides.
You’ve raised legitimate points “against” these fashionistas. And i must say i tend to agree with most of what you’ve said…
All i really wanted to add is, in a attempt to defend fashion as it where, is what about the fact that when one “feels” as if they look there best it usually does alot to improve ones self esteem.
Also there are alot of people in the fashion industry who are intelligent/interesting people.
As far as the industry goes itself, is it ultimately neccesary? I’d say not in the sense that we dont need sexy lingerie to survive.
But for some people fashion is a passion… please excuse the pun, and who are we to take that from them?

    That is all.

Listen here, MCH: It is ‘their’, not ‘there’…and that is not a pun, the words just rhyme. A lot of Nazis were probably intelligent and interesting people but it didn’t allow their industry to escape being a dangerous and disgusting, self absorbed orb of excrement. Clearly ‘fashion’ has more than its fair share of ridiculous and horrendous personalities and if you don’t agree with that then you must just be one of them.

Chowmay: ‘orb of excretement’, why did I not use that?

Sarah: I am glad I could cheer you up. I think Lagerfeld is my hero.

Matt: no comment of your’s was modified so I will look into that. One was deleted though, your Withnail and I post – it was just randomly posted and seemed irrelevant to any of the material.
Glad you enjoy the read. Take care bud.
